Inwang jesaekdo (Scene of Inwangsan Mountain After Rain)
 by Jeong Seon

About

Wayu is a handbuilt ceramic brand rooted in a classical East Asian philosophy — Wayu 와유 臥遊 which translates as "travelling while lying still”. the idea that one can journey through vast landscapes simply by dwelling with art in stillness. Every Wayu piece is one of a kind — made entirely by hand and finished from a library of over 500 glaze combinations.

Our handmade objects invite quiet contemplation, wherever you are.

Policies
1. Packaging
Every Wayu piece is wrapped in tissue or a magnatic box. Smaller objects are wrapped in tissue paper and tied with hemp twine.
Our packaging is plastic free and recyclable, and we reuse clean materials wherever we can.

2. Dispatch
Pieces held in stock are dispatched within 3 working days. Because every piece is hand-built and nothing is repeated, some works are made to order and are dispatched within 3 weeks. You will receive a confirmation email with tracking as soon as your order leaves the studio.

3. Shipping
-United Kingdom: £3.50
-Europe: £14.95
-US·Canada: £19.95

-Import duty and taxes
Orders delivered outside the United Kingdom may be liable for import duty, local sales tax and a carrier handling fee. Taxation rules vary by country and are determined by your local government, so please check your local liability before ordering.

4. Care
Tableware — cups, plates, matcha bowls and whisk stands
High-fired stoneware, glazed and food safe. Wash by hand in warm water with a soft cloth; abrasive sponges and scouring powders will dull the glaze. Avoid sudden changes in temperature: do not pour boiling water into a cold piece, and do not place a piece directly on a heat source. Unglazed feet may feel coarse; rest pieces on a mat or felt pad to protect wooden and stone surfaces.

Ritualware — incense holders, candle holders, tea light holders and candle shades
These pieces are made for flame and incense, not for food or drink. Use within sight, on a heat resistant surface, and let the piece cool fully before handling. Ash will mark the surface of an incense holder over time. This is part of the object's life and will not damage it.

Livingware — knobs, vases and wall works
Not intended for food. Vases hold water; empty and dry them between arrangements, and set them on a mat to protect the surface beneath.

Each piece carries its own weight, colour and edge.

5. On variation

Wayu is built entirely by hand, without moulds, and finished from an archive of over five hundred layered glazes. Each firing resolves differently. Variation in form, colour, texture and dimension is intrinsic to how the work is made, not a departure from it: the pinch of a thumb at the rim, the way one glaze draws across another, the edge that settles where the clay decided to settle.

Measurements are given to the nearest quarter inch and should be read as approximate. Colour shifts between screens and between pieces. What arrives will be its own object, and yours alone.
